Professionals, researchers, educators, and policymakers have gathered at a seminar to explore critical advancements in nursing practice through research and innovation.

The National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) held the scientific seminar on the most recent developments in nursing education and practice at its facilities, said a KOICA press release on Monday.

Established in 2016 with grant aid support from the government of the Republic of Korea and implemented by KOICA, NIANER has emerged as the premier institution for nursing education in Bangladesh. With a commitment to quality and innovation, NIANER continues to be at the forefront of initiatives to enhance nursing practice and education in Bangladesh and has been attracting nursing students from abroad.

Additional Secretary Maqsura Noor, the chief guest at the program, highlighted NIANER’s pioneering role in advancing research-based nursing education in Bangladesh. She also applauded the initiative to hold this seminar to encourage the young nurse researchers in taking more challenging nursing positions.

Speaking as the special guest, KOICA Deputy Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan Hyun Suh Kang, underscored the importance of investing in nursing education and training to achieve sustainable healthcare outcomes. She further commended NIANER for its dedication to advancing the nursing profession and reiterated KOICA's unwavering support for initiatives that empower healthcare professionals in Bangladesh.

Nearly 15 nursing students across the country presented their research findings on contemporary concerns related to nursing care while the main research paper was presented by Prof. Dr. Syed Abdul Hamid from the Health Economics Department of Dhaka University.

Prof. Dr. Debabrata Banik, Nursing Dean of BSMMU; Mr. Md. Abdul Quader, Joint Secretary, Medical Education & Family Welfare Division; Md. Nasir Uddin, Deputy Secretary and Registrar of BNM; Dr. Taslima Begum, Director of NIANER was present among others in the seminar.

KOICA, established by the Korean Foreign Ministry in 1991 for Official Development Assistance, has been implementing Korea's grant aid and technical cooperation to support socio-economic development in Bangladesh since 1993.
